No-Rice at the Beach
Hi Guys, due to reasons out of our control, the Guildford to Brighton run has been relocated.
Please accept our apologies for the short notice, however, it came about that we would require public liability insurance to the tune of £2,000,000 worth of cover, therefore pushing the costs too high.
After a re-think, we have decided to change the event rather than cancel it altogether.
With this in mind, the No-Rice at the Beach run will take place from Ladymead, Guildford and end at West Wittering Beach.
West Wittering Beach has over 20 acres of grassland parking, almost perfect for our needs and has the added bonus of the beach over the road should anyone fancy it. The car park / field allow BBQs and should allow us plenty of freedom to line up and have a laugh.
The only cost involved is parking, West Wittering charge to enter the site and this currently stands at £7 for Weekends and Bank Holidays. Although this is slightly more than planned, the venue is perfectly suited for the event and foregoes any need for costly insurance and rentals (with liability insurance the cost of the G2B would have increased).
The plan of attack would be a meet at Ladymead for 9am sharp, followed by a departure at 10am. This should see us arrive at West Wittering for near on 12 0’clock.
BBQs are allowed so simply bring your own, think Nogrille is bringing his beast but lets not all try and muscle in on his hotplate.

New Forum!
|
 |
After an unfortunate Server problem, we had to move to different Forum Software. The new forum has many new facilities and options that will allow us all to discuss all our favourite topics for a long time to come. We've also now got a dedicated Database server so everything should run a lot smoother from now on.
Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to copy over the user database to the new forum. So if you were an old user and can't seem to login, you'll have to sign up again. Though that does give you a chance to change your Username and start fresh!
The old forums have been backed up and if you need something please don't hesitate to contact me or one of the other Admins to get your favourite threads or contacts back.
Come on then! Sign up and join in the chats.
Adam.

What a great day, thanks everyone for coming. The weather was lovely, and the cars were really something else this year. I particularly enjoyed the convoy this time.
Without much ado, here are your winners:
First place went to Robin Fisher with his lovely 911 Turbo; second place to Sam Saunders and her hot-rod inspired Mk3 Golf. Last but not at all least, third place went to Joe Clark for his beatuifully presented Mk2 Golf.
If you want to see some pictures, check out the NR photography section: (temporarily heosted elsewhere) here. There are a number on the forum too, but I'd like to point you in the direction of Musicman's photographs: here.
I also want to thank Paul (aka nogrille) for cooking all day long for us.
Thanks for your contributions, and I look forward to seeing you all next year!

Forum Server Issues
|
 |
Please accept my apologies, as nothing can be done at the moment for the temporary forum outage. We're having server problems and the main site is allowed, but the forum is not.
Keep checking back though, and I'll try and keep you updated on here.
Update
We're back up for testing, but if it's terminal we may be down again before we know it. Fingers crossed.

Guildford to Brighton 2005

That's better, we've had another re-vamp of the main No-Rice site and it's enthused me to get motivated.
No-Rice had it's third annual 'photoshoot' actually it's an excuse for a day out in the sun, relaxing and soaking up some VW branded atmosphere. We met in Guildford on the August bank holiday, convoyed together and met up again in Brighton. The barbeque was fired up and a small show and shine commenced.
The winners were Tim, Geoff and Darren:
Thank you to every one who came and made it such a fabulous day.

Meet Venue

It's about time we let everyone know exactly what's going on. The demise of Guildford was very unfortunate, but it wasn't worth suffering with, so a move was very neccessary.
A temporary meet was held at Fleet services, and this has turned into a permenant thing. We've lasted over a year at Fleet now, and don't see any reason to move.
The boring bit: The kind people at Fleet services are being very generous allowing us to meet there. So please behave well. No loud music, no burnouts, wheelspins etc. Pick up your litter, drive and park sensibly. We all need to make sure we don't get moved on again.
Anyway, the meet is, as always the second Wednesday of the month. 7.30 to 8 o'clock is a good time to get there. We congregate on the south/westbound side.
