Irish eyes are definitely smiling this issue with a stunning,
super-smooth 1.8T Mk4 from Grounded Crew gracing our
cover this month. Interestingly - or perhaps that should be
disturbingly - it is arguably a work in progress, with all
indications being that the car is soon to be totally revamped
for its 'proper' incarnation. Sod that, we say. It's too good now
not to feature, so here it is in all its 'progress report' glory.
If the newer metal isn't your thing then perhaps the gorgeous
small-light twin-45s 16v (on 2.0L block) Mk1 is a bit more up
your alley? In a style and spec more akin to what many of us
fantasise about actually coming from the factory, this tidy
German shows many how it's done. And with that hillclimb
spec engine in, she doesn't half shake her booty in a hurry, too.
Got a sexy-as Mk3 VR6 in there too, and we take the new
Scirocco for a quick blat - and came away loving it. Plus there's
the Edition38 and Westside show reports and a How To...
on the new craze in the UK Dub 'scene' of vinyl wrapping
your car!
Add in a tidy Scottish Lupo, a Backdraft Motorsport workshop
review and a bumper 2.0L T FSI Turbo upgrade guide and
you might just have enough to get you through until the
next issue.
